The University of Derby offer a huge range of PGCE and QTS courses that prepare trainees to teach students of all ages from primary to adults:
  • Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeships (primary, secondary and SEND)
  • Assessment Only route to QTS (primary, secondary and SEND)
  • Secondary School Direct PGCE with QTS
  • Post 14 FES PGCE
  • Provider-led PGCE (primary)
  • UG BEd/MEdU (primary)

    With a focus on practical teaching experiences, placements are at the heart of the University of Derby’s training, allowing trainees to build skills in a real – life setting with the support of a mentor throughout.

    Apprenticeship

    Apprenticeship in teaching is a salaried route securing Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within 1 year.
    1 year | Full time

    School Direct Route

    School Direct is a school-led teaching training course which allows you to be apart of a teaching training team within a school from day one.
    1 Years | Up To £9,250.00 | Full Time / Part Time

    PGCE

    PGCE offers 4 hours per week classroom attendance with tutorial opportunities and self-study.
    2 years | From £3,500.00 | Part time
